Oncology Nursing

Oncology nursing is probably one of the most challenging and rewarding areas of nursing. This education must be done effectively throughout the treatment of the disease and care for the patient, in the style of teaching that best suits the patient. The nurse educates patients about their condition and side effects and how to avoid complications. An oncology nurse is a nurse who specializes in the care and treatment of people with cancer. Oncology nurses should have appropriate training in the administration, handling, side effects, and dosing of chemotherapy. Each facility will have their own policies for various chemotherapy drugs to ensure proper training and prevent errors. Their practices in the association will be several oncological disciplines, including surgical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecological oncology, and medical oncology.
